KSYK & Life Terra: Students planted 60 new trees and 75 bushes on the school grounds (9.5.2025)

On Friday, May 9, 2025 students planted 60 new trees and 75 bushes on the school grounds. Internationally renowned climate work experts were present at the event to guide the students, including the founder of the Life Terra Foundation, Sven Kallen, Daniel-Paul Dima (MSc Forestry), and the foundation’s communications officer, Anna Colás. The students got to get their hands dirty for a moment and planted trees and plants in the soil of Kulosaari according to the instructions. When Sven Kallen asked the students how many had planted trees before, only a few hands went up. In the future, most of the middle school students will be able to say that they have planted something in the ground.

Warm thanks to Life Terra, Sven Kallen, Daniel-Paul Dima, and Anna Colás!

This planting work is part of the school’s broader commitment to environmental education and sustainability, and as a result, a new green area will emerge on the school’s side facing Itäväylä.
