Environmental Research is a joint biology and chemistry course of the Science and Technology line, held entirely in English. As in the previous years, at the end of the course the students got to visit the research center at the island of Seili in the Turku archipelago.
With the help of the tutors from the University of Turku (and the trusted course assistant dog Kusti!), our high schoolers were allowed to perform many interesting and practical environmental experiments. For instance the level of nutrients from the Baltic sea was measured and then compared to the measurements done by the students already in Helsinki. Different invertebrates (selkärangattomat) of the Baltic sea were also a key point of investigation.
Thank you for the students and the University of Turku for wonderful two days!
